On this 13-day / 12-night itinerary, you will experience the best of Morocco with us. The journey begins in Tangier, where you will visit Cape Spartel and the legendary Hercules Cave. From there, cross the Rif Mountains to explore the charming blue city of Chefchaouen and the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis.

Continue with guided sightseeing in Fes and Meknes, followed by a visit to Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and the Cedar Forest. In the Sahara Desert of Merzouga, enjoy a camel trek, witness breathtaking sunsets and sunrises, and spend the night in the magical dunes. You will also explore the desert region and walk through the stunning Todra and Dades Gorges.

The tour then takes you across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass to reach Marrakech for a guided city tour, before heading to the coastal town of Essaouira. Afterwards, discover Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city, and Rabat, the nation’s capital.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tangier – Chefchaouen

Your 13-day Absolute Morocco Tour begins with a pick-up from Tangier, whether from the airport, port, or your accommodation. Tangier, often called the “Bride of the North,” lies where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic at Cape Spartel. Visit Cape Spartel and the Hercules Cave, then enjoy free time for lunch. Afterwards, cross the Rif Mountains via Tetouan with panoramic stops, and continue to Chefchaouen. Overnight in a riad.

After breakfast, discover Chefchaouen with a local guide. Nestled in the Rif Mountains, this city is renowned for its blue and white-painted streets and charming medina. Stroll through its alleys, admire traditional doors, and enjoy free time for lunch. In the afternoon, hike to the Spanish Mosque for panoramic views. Overnight in the same riad.

Begin the day with a last stroll in Chefchaouen before heading to Volubilis, the ancient Roman city and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its mosaics and ruins before continuing to Meknes, the Ismaili capital, to see Bab al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani, the Royal Stables, and Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. End the day in Fes. Overnight in a riad.

After breakfast, start exploring Fes with a local guide. Begin with the Royal Palace Gate, the Mellah (Jewish Quarter), Borj Sud fortress for panoramic views, and a visit to the Ceramic School. Then enter the UNESCO-listed medieval Medina, with highlights such as Al Attarine Madrasa, Al Quaraouiyine University and Mosque (the oldest in the world), and the Chouara Tanneries. Return to your riad for free time.

Today the tour heads south via Imouzzer to Ifrane, famous for its alpine-style houses and snowy winters, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Visit the Cedar Forest to meet the Barbary macaques, then continue to Midelt for lunch. Drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass and along the Ziz Valley before reaching Merzouga. Switch to camels to cross the dunes, pause on a ridge for sunset, and continue to your luxury desert camp. Enjoy dinner, Berber drumming, and stargazing.

After breakfast, explore the Sahara region with an off-road excursion. Visit nomadic families, share tea, see an old kohl mine, and enjoy Gnaoua music in Khamlia village. Later, stroll through palm groves and visit Merzouga’s seasonal lake, often home to flamingos. Return to your hotel in Merzouga for dinner and overnight.

Wake early to witness the desert sunrise. After breakfast, depart for Rissani to explore its traditional souk, then continue to Erfoud to visit a fossil workshop. Drive through Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves before reaching the Todra Gorge, a canyon with towering cliffs. After free time for lunch, continue to Boumalne Dades and the Dades Valley, stopping at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formations and a scenic overlook. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.

After breakfast, drive to Kalaat M’Gouna to explore the Rose Valley, famous for its May Rose Festival. Pass through Skoura’s palm groves before reaching Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Desert,” where you’ll visit the film studios. Continue to the UNESCO-listed Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village featured in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Then cross the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass and High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. Overnight in a riad.

After breakfast, explore Marrakech with a local guide. Visit the Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, and wander the Medina and its colorful souks. Admire the Koutoubia Mosque (from outside) and the vibrant Jamaa El Fna Square. After lunch, visit the Majorelle Garden (pre-booking required), then tour Gueliz, the modern district. Return to your riad

Travel west to the coastal city of Essaouira. On the way, see Argan tree cooperatives, and if lucky, goats climbing the trees. Upon arrival, explore the fishing port, ramparts with cannons, and the UNESCO-listed Medina. Free time to enjoy the beach and seafood before overnighting in Essaouira.

Depart Essaouira for Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city. Visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest in Morocco, beautifully perched by the Atlantic. Explore Mohammed V Square, stroll the Corniche, and stop at Rick’s Café for photos. Overnight in Casablanca.

Drive along the Atlantic coast to Rabat, Morocco’s capital and one of its imperial cities. Visit the Hassan Tower, Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of Oudayas. After lunch, continue north to the charming seaside town of Asilah. Overnight in a riad.

On your final day, depart from Asilah to Tangier. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy free time before your transfer to Tangier Airport or port, marking the end of your 13-day Morocco tour.
