Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Ouarzazate

Depart from Marrakech at 8:00 AM and head toward Ouarzazate, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the breathtaking Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters. Stop to visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a 300-year-old walled city and UNESCO World Heritage site featured in famous films such as Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven. After lunch, continue to Ouarzazate, where you can explore the movie studios and enjoy your first night in this cinematic city.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Agdez – Draa Valley – Tazarine – Sahara Desert

After breakfast and a visit to Kasbah Taourirt, travel toward Zagora, crossing the Anti-Atlas Mountains via Tizi n Tinifift Pass at 1,600 meters. Journey through the scenic Draa Valley, passing traditional Berber villages and historic kasbahs. Continue through N’kob, Tazarine, and Alnif, before taking a desert track once used in the Paris-Dakar Rally. Spend the night in a remote kasbah or a desert hotel near the dunes.

Day 3: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Dunes – Desert Camp

After breakfast, traverse remote villages, dry riverbeds (wadis), oases, and the dunes of Ouzina. Visit the village of Khamlia, home to descendants of African slaves, and enjoy their captivating folk music. Journey toward Erg Chebbi, Morocco’s tallest dunes, passing desert nomads and scenic oases filmed in movies like Sahara starring Penelope Cruz. In the afternoon, ride camels into the dunes to witness a stunning sunset. Spend the night in a nomadic desert camp (Khaima) with traditional Berber dinner, music, and an unforgettable starlit sky.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake up early to enjoy a magical desert sunrise before returning by camel to your hotel for a shower and breakfast. Travel to Rissani, the origin of the Alawi dynasty and Morocco’s first imperial city, then onward to Erfoud, famous for its fossils and black stones. Visit the Tafilalet Palm Grove and continue to the dramatic Todra Gorges, ending the day in the Dades Valley for your fourth night.

Day 5: Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Skoura – Marrakech

Leave the Dades Valley along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” and pass through the stunning Rose Valley. Stop at the Skoura Palm Grove to admire its famous kasbahs before returning to Marrakech. Enjoy lunch along the way and cross back through the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass, completing your unforgettable 5-day Moroccan desert adventure.
